2008 Senior Citizens Christmas Party

About 250 senior citizens were treated by the club to a Christmas afternoon tea and show at Sinah Warren Hotel last Thursday 11th December. Tea and cakes were given out by Club Members and other willing helpers, plus they all received a present from Father Christmas supplied by the Hayling Island Businessmen’s Club.

This is a popular annual event which has grown in numbers each year; although the maximum has been reached we are now able to cope with. The entertainment team at Sinah produced their Christmas show for the guests who enjoyed the fast moving Christmas favourites being sung and danced along with.

A thank you to Sinah Warren Hotel for allowing us to use the ballroom at what for them is a very busy time and for supplying the tea and cakes.

2008 – Donations

The Hayling Island Businessmens Club have been busy giving away money from the profits of their successful Barbecue at Northney Farm in the summer.

Wally Egan, who sadly died last year was a founder member of the club and a fun loving, caring man who cared for the community and believed in youth’s future.

We have initiated an annual prize in his memory at Hayling College to recognise individual effort and enterprise. This year the winner was Lisa Haines, who received the annual Rose Bowl and a cheque for £100 from Wally’s widow, Enid.

Further grants include; £400 to Street Sport to encourage children and youth to participate in sport.
£250 for a sophisticated hearing aid for a Hayling College pupil.
£250 to St Andrews Church Hall for a keyboard for Community use.
£200 to Hayling Ladies Football club.
