HAYLING ISLAND BUSINESSMENS CLUB – report for May 2016 By Bruce Mowatt

Mama Mia and Dancing Queen are just two of the songs you have the opportunity to sing and dance too, performed by the great Abba tribute act, who will be on stage for a total of 90 minutes (performed in two forty-five minute sessions). This is during the evening of Saturday July 9th at the ever popular HIBC annual barbeque. Combine this with all you can eat local sourced Burgers and Sausages with all the trimmings, include a Spit roast, add a disco, with beer, soft drinks and wine for sale, then it must be the event to attend. Tickets cost £17 available from Club members, and the following outlets: – Cards for Occasions / Community centre / Foots Estate Agent / Morris Dibben / Stoke fruit farm / Northney Tea Rooms, and Lions Community Shop. Please ensure you purchase tickets before the event, you will be disappointed if you arrive at the gate on the evening without tickets. Please note all tickets cost £17 there are no concessions.

This is my first year as a member of the team that plan and action all activities to ensure that the night is as successful as previous years or better. It is the dedication of the club members that every aspect from selling tickets, ordering the food, preparing the venue, cooking the food, and all the other actions from toilets to car parking are planned to ensure a successful and smooth running evening. Club members take on the required tasks; all keen to ensure the ticket holders who attend have a memorable evening.

Thanks again to Stan and Mary Pike for allowing us to once again stage the BBQ event at Northney Farm.

Look out for the HIBC BBQ advertising banners around the Island, perhaps as you go around the Island, you could count the BBQ advertising banners you see, I will give you the correct total next month. (just for fun – no prizes)

Please return payment, counterfoils and any unsold tickets by Saturday 9th July 2016. All proceeds from the Raffle will be used to help run the Hayling Island Community Bus and support other worthwhile causes on the Island. HIBC is Licensed as a Small Social lottery.

Knowing that popular tribute bands are booked many months in advance, we are keen to book a tribute act for 2017, which will be a popular choice, and ensure ticket sales. If you have any favourites, please make your choice known to club members at this year’s BBQ.

The club was very pleased to receive a donation of £3500 from the Lions Club Hayling Island, which will be used to support our charitable activities on the Island.
